So I tried loading mgq paradox but I keep hitting an error saying code converter not found (utf8 to shift_JIS) but allows me to ok it. It just stays on a black screen after though. Any idea how to solve this?

In the app, click the settings button (the wrench) and change the Default CharSet to SHIFT-JIS. I believe this should fix the problem.

I've already tried all three character sets and it still won't launch unfortunately.

If that's the case, then its only a problem with the application coding itself.
